Information on Service 'Light Pollution Raw Data'

[Use this service from your browser]

Further access options are discussed below

We give continuous night and day light measurements at all natural outdoor light levels by a network of low-cost lightmeters. Developed to start simple, global continuous high cadence monitoring of night sky brightness and artificial night sky brightening (light pollution) in 2009. The lightmeter network is a project of the Thüringer Landessternwarte, Tautenburg, Germany and the Kuffner-Sternwarte society at the Kuffner-Observatory, Vienna, Austria. It started as part of the Dark Skies Awareness cornerstone of the International Year of Astronomy.

This service is not published. This can mean that it was deemed too unimportant, for internal use only, or is just a helper for a published service. Equally likely, however, it is under development, abandoned in development or otherwise unfinished. Exercise caution.

Other services provided on the underlying data include:

Input Fields

The following fields are available to provide input to the service (with some renderers, some of these fields may be unavailable):

NameTable Head DescriptionUnitUCD
epoch JD (UTC) JD of measurement, UTC d time.epoch
stationId Station ID Identifier of the measuring station, starting with an ISO CC N/A meta.id;meta.main

Default Output Fields

The following fields are contained in the output by default. More fields may be available for selection; these would be given below in the VOTable output fields.

NameTable Head DescriptionUnitUCD
meanepoch Mean JD (UTC) Mean epoch of measurements within this file d time.epoch
stationid Station ID Identifier of the measuring station, starting with an ISO CC N/A meta.id;meta.main

VOTable Output Fields

The following fields are available in VOTable output. The verbosity level is a number intended to represent the relative importance of the field on a scale of 1 to 30. The services take a VERB argument. A field is included in the output if their verbosity level is less or equal VERB*10.

NameTable Head DescriptionUnitUCD Verb. Level
stationid Station ID Identifier of the measuring station, starting with an ISO CC N/A meta.id;meta.main 1
meanepoch Mean JD (UTC) Mean epoch of measurements within this file d time.epoch 1
source Source Source file key N/A meta.id;meta.file 24
